Ralph Leigan

December 1st 1937 - May 22nd 2016

Family and friends are mourning the loss of a much loved and admired husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend, Ralph Leigan. Born in Aberdeen, Washington in 1937, Ralph began working in the plywood industry in the late 1950’s.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Brownrigg, in 1960. They had 3 children and, in 1971, the family moved to Golden, BC. Ralph worked for Evans Products until 1978 when he started his own general contracting business. Ralph was very involved in the Kinsmen Club of Golden and, in the late 1970’s, was instrumental in the building of the new curling rink. In 1980, Ralph was made a Lifetime member of the Golden Kinsmen Club.

Ralph’s love for music led to the creation of one of the first DJ businesses in Golden, SGS Disco. For 15 years, Ralph and Barb played music for dances throughout the Columbia Valley. Over the past 30 years, Ralph and Barb have made annual trips to Mexico and have also traveled to many beautiful places around the world.

Ralph’s hobby was searching for antiques and collectibles. For a while, he collected and restored old wood stoves. Spending time with family was also a priority. Ralph loved to entertain and hosted many gatherings of family and friends. Fun was the name of the game and many fond memories were made with Ralph and Barb.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Barb; daughters, Susan (Wilf), and Sharri (Domenic); son, Jerry (Susi); grandchildren, Monique (Shawn), Justine (Allan), Kyle (Liz), Mitchell, Jenna, Eddie and Rayanne; brother, Ed (Janice); and sister, Marilyn (Jack). Many thanks to Kevin and Nina at Hindman-Bowers Funeral Home, Darren and Nola at The Golden Bakery and many wonderful friends who offered support. Your kindness will be remembered.
