Friends of the Golden and District Hospital was established
in 2015 when a group of families wanted to show their support for the local
hospital in a tangible way. Each family had their own story to tell and reasons
for giving thanks to the Golden and District Hospital. The crowd funding
project, Giving Thanks to the Golden & District hospital, was a very
popular event with the community showing overwhelming support for the hospital.
This is the fifth annual Thanksgiving crowd funding event.
The Golden Hospital and Durand Manor had a sizable list of
equipment needs over and above their annual budget for which funding was not
easily nor readily found. Since inception the Friends of the Golden and
District Hospital has raised $107,950; money which stays in Golden and which has
been used to purchase items from this list.
This year the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital are raising funds for the acquisition of a Mobile X-Ray Machine at a cost of $95,000.

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has endorsed the Friends of
the Golden & District Hospital and has approved the crowd-funding project
through CanadaHelps.org.
