Ev Dusevic passed away peacefully at the Golden and District Hospital
surrounded by her family on May 13, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Ev
will be lovingly missed by her son Darren (Nola) of Golden and daughter
Angela of Houston, TX; her grandchildren Chris of Golden, Dawn (Roger)
of Port Alberni and Faith (Spencer) and great grandchild Kenzie of
Golden; two sisters, Vi Stojke of Airdrie, Alberta and Verna (Ray) of
Weyburn, Saskatchewan; one brother Vernon (Sharon) of Weyburn,
Saskatchewan; one brother-in-law Lawrence Daae of Calgary, Alberta; two
sister-in-laws Lois Solie of Regina, Saskatchewan and Eileen Solie of
Weyburn, Saskatchewan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ev was predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents Olaf and Agnus
Solie; two brothers Marvin Solie and Palmer Solie; her sister Lilah
Daae; and brother-in-law Otto Stojke.
Ev was born in Oungre,
Saskatchewan on November 7, 1929. Ev was the third child of 7 siblings
and first daughter born to homesteaders Olaf and Agnus Solie. Ev spent
her childhood years on the farm and attended school up to grade 12 in
Lake Alma, Saskatchewan.
Ev worked in both Lake Alma and Estevan at
local general stores as well as the Saskatchewan Government Telephones
(SGT). She moved to Regina in 1954 where she met her husband Joe who
immigrated to Canada from Croatia in 1958. They were married November
19, 1960. Ev and Joe moved to Calgary in March 1961 where they had two
children: their son Darren on November 17, 1961 and their daughter Ang
(Angela) on April 22, 1964.
In November 1970, Ev and Joe bought the
Golden Bakery in Golden B.C. where she worked for many years which
remains family run. On May 6, 2015 Ev’s husband Joe passed away. Ev’s
life exemplified faith, her love of Jesus, family, friends and
thankfulness in all things.
