Use of proceeds from 2017 fundraiser

AS of September 1^st, the bulk of the money raised in the 2017 Thanksgiving Fundraiser has been spent on equipment for the Golden & District Hospital and Durand Manor.

In total $25,064 was raised during the online fundraising event “Giving Thanks to the Golden & District Hospital” in 2017, bringing the total raised since inception to $94,800.

Small gifts can make a big difference and have a huge impact on the equipment needs of a small rural hospital. Below is a list of the equipment purchased and processed through the account dedicated to the Friends of the GDH (#2000) administered by the EKFH as of September 1^st, 2018.

Fourth Annual Fundraiser now accepting gifts

The fourth annual fundraiser, Giving Thanks to the Golden & District Hospital is now accepting donations and will remain open for the next 2 weeks until October 6th 2018, the Saturday of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Friends of the Golden and District Hospital was established in 2015 when a group of families wanted to show their support for the local hospital in a tangible way. Each family had their own story to tell and reasons for giving thanks to the Golden and District Hospital. The crowd funding project, Giving Thanks to the Golden & District hospital, was a very popular event with the community showing overwhelming support for the hospital. This is the fourth annual Thanksgiving fundraising crowd funding event.

The Golden Hospital and Durand Manor had a sizable list of equipment needs over and above their annual budget for which funding is not easily nor readily found. Since inception the Friends of the Golden and District Hospital has raised $94,800; money which stays in Golden and which has been used to purchase items from this list.

This year the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital intend to focus on the acquisition of a Lifepak Defibrillator ($25,000) and a Spacelabs monitor ($??,000) for the trauma room at a total cost of approximately $??,000 These items truly do make a big difference and have a huge impact on the hospital’s ability to handle heart related traumas and deliver a successful outcome.

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has endorsed the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital and has approved the crowd-funding project through CanadaHelps.org.

Thanks to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Summit Fund supported the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital with a donation of $500. This cheque brings the total funds raised by the Giving Thanks to the Golden & District Hospital in 2017 to $25,064. Check out the updated Donor list (top right hand corner).

$24,514 and Cheques keep coming.

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has received two cheques directly for the account of the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital; one sent by the Huebert family in memory of their sons Carl and Erich Huebert for $2000 and another from James and Susan Halvorson for $100.  These cheques bring the total funds raised by the Giving Thanks to the Golden & District Hospital in 2017 to $24,514. Less than 12 hours to go

Fundraiser closes at 9 pm Saturday. With less than 12 hour to go in the fundraising campaign, the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital have raised over $22k. Please keep the thank-you gifts coming during the last 12 hours of the 2017 fundraising campaign and we will all have a happy Thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving weekend, take time to reflect and give thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff that take care of our community from beginning to end; from the beginning in the maternity ward to the end in palliative care and all of our ailments in between.
