At $5,150 with just one week to go

With just one week before the Thanksgiving holiday, the donations for the 2018 fundraiser, the fourth annual fundraiser, total $5,150.
In the 3 years prior the Friends have raised a total of $94,800, money that has been used to buy equipment that stays in Golden at the hospital or Durrand Manor.
The total raised to date since 2015 is now $99,950. We are so close to a one hundred thousand dollar milestone for the Friends of The Golden & District Hospital.
Who will be the next person to donate $50 to achieve that milestone.

Post Anesthetic Recovery Room Monitors

The Post Anesthetic Recovery (PAR) monitors
have drastically improved our monitoring in the recovery room. 

The monitors allow multiple patients to be closely monitored by the nurse simultaneously and enable equipment to stay dedicated to the patient, traveling into the operating room with them instead of cleaning equipment between patients and rooms. 

This also helps trend the data collected to help detect changes quickly. 

The Golden & District Hospital already has one monitor but another would be very useful and improve the efficiency of the staff.

ACL surgery now in Golden

Friends of the Golden & District Hospital funds bought this ACL Drill: 

Our visiting orthopedic surgeons now complete ACL surgeries in Golden. The ACL drill is an essential piece of equipment for the surgery.

It's a piece of equipment you hope never to need, but very glad to have!

Meet the Mannequins

Purchased using funds from the 2017 fundraiser, the additional training mannequins have made in-house training much easier.

We no longer have to transport mannequins between Golden and Invermere between courses. 

The mannequins have Bluetooth technology that allow CPR instructors to monitor the quality of CPR practice with an iPad. 

These mannequins are also used to teach free CPR classes to the community by hospital staff

Donating to the FGDH is tax effective.

Some charities charge a large administration fee reducing the amount available to the cause however, Canada Helps only takes a small administration fee of 3% and transfers the funds to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) where it is segregated into an account specifically for the Friends of the Golden and District Hospital. The EKFH takes about 5% as an administration fee when equipment is purchased, so for every Dollar donated approximately 92 cents is available to the hospital for the purchase of equipment. A Very efficient way of raising funds for our hospital!

When you donate to the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital, Canada Helps will issue to you a charitable donation tax receipt for the full amount of the donation. The tax receipt will be emailed to you automatically. You can also print the tax receipt directly from the donation page. Your tax credit will vary depending on your level of donation. A Very efficient way for you to give to charity!
